Claymark Centurion & Azek Trim

Denis’crew is finishing up the framing and the window trim this week in anticipation of the siding arriving next week. For the window trim pieces, instead of traditional prime finger jointed (PFJ) pine, we are using a product called Claymark Centurion. It was recommended by our friend Jack at Sterrit Lumber. Make from premium radiata pine from New Zealand , the product is FSC Certified and is treated with a 100% acrylic water-based, eco-friendly treatment to increase longevity. As a result, Centurion comes with 50 year warranty. On any horizontal surface which may have standing water such as the water table, we are using Azek Trim. Although Azek is PVC based product, this is an example where the longevity and virtually zero maintenance attributes of Azek make it a smarter choice. Another nice detail we are doing is the picture frame moldings on each exterior corner.

PVC is still up for debate as to whether it will be a positive or negative on the LEED scoring system.
(my 2cents is that they should leave it neutral)

Be that as it may...being composed of almost 60% Chloride, the Azek on that home is far and away a "greener" product than the 50 or so square of laminate shingles you have on that roof.
