_ SubRural can be defined as the synthesis of environmental and contextual characteristics in both suburban and rural regions. These regions are often subjected to over-proportioned and energy inefficient residential structures.
_ SubRural House v.1 does not intend to solve multiple sustainable issues. The house is designed to meet and exceed the passive house standard. SubRural House v.1 encourages a more economic scale and size for contemporary residential homes.
_ With limited context to influence the design, SubRural v.1 must overlook specific site driven factors and focus on refining the important and immediate residential issues:
_ Simple and compact design (concentrated spatial involvement and utilities)
_ Comfortable living environment (bright and open spaces)
_ USEFUL natural daylighting and ventilation (no more drapes and more clean air)
_ Communal space design (increase interaction/family time with less walls)
_ Ample storage space (clean, healthy, and orderly interiors)
_ Abundant insulation to lower space heating demands (up to 75% savings)
_ Prefabricated and recyclable materials (reduces excessive building waste)
_ Quality craftsmanship (SIP usage can increase construction accuracy/performance)
_ Quick construction time (low labor cost)
